So long, 2011! Hello, 2012 Business Development
December 30, 2011 in Strategic Time Management by Lorette Pruden
If you worked for a corporation, this weekend might be a two-fer…half a day off, at least, for New Year’s Eve Eve, and then a whole day on Monday, “cause you had to ‘waste’ your holiday on a Sunday. So you might be kicked back, getting ready to party, nurse your hangover and watch some football.
But I’m at my desk at 5:04pm on December 30, wondering how 2011 got by so fast! I could have worked frantically to get in one more sales call, make one more appointment for next week, enroll one more person in the Bermuda strategic planning workshop for the coming year.
Instead, I cruised Linked-In. I found people I had forgotten about, went through my message and invite list (sorely neglected for months), found a whole tribe of people through one connection!!, and invited about 30 people to connect.
Several of them were on Linked-in too (great minds run the same channel?), and responded right away. I made at least three new connections via real email and discussion, and I’m looking forward to building those relationships early in 2012. One is a great potential prospect, one could be a great connector, and a couple are people who had reached out to me.
As it turns out, I’m pretty happy with my 2012 business development so far–I got it started in 2011!
And I am going to party, skip the hangover, and snooze through some football, with 2012 already kicked off. Happy New Year!
